A new home for the Houston Dynamo… maybe

As reported by the Houston Chronicle, the City of Houston has taken the first steps in securing a new home for our Houston Dynamo — Major League Soccer’s Champions two years in a row. The City has made an offer in excess of $15 million to purchase five downtown blocks near Texas and Walker as a potential stadium site. The offered price places the land value at $42/SF and the City is reportedly negotiating to trade for a sixth adjacent block.

The Dynamo have been utilizing University of Houston’s Robertson stadium subsequent to their transfer from San Diego two years ago. Still, road might be long to the actual construction since the City and team owners have to reach an agreement as to the construction costs.
